Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic is the natural method to get your body to fully heal and express its potential. Stress, wear and tear, fatigue and mental anxiety can all take a toll on our health. Chiropractic helps you rebound in ways you may not have considered before.
Spinal Decompression
Spinal decompression involves stretching the spine while using a traction table. The goal is to relieve back pain and/or leg pain. Our chiropractor also works to promote an optimal healing environment for bulging, degenerated, or herniated discs.
Spinal decompression is a type of therapy applied to the spine that brings patients many benefits. First, we attempt to create a negative intradiscal pressure to promote retraction or re-positioning of the herniated or bulging disc material. Secondly, we create a lower pressure in the disc that will cause an influx of healing nutrients as well as other substances into the disc.
Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is a treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissue and help accelerate your healing process. Cold laser treatment can be used on people suffering from acute and chronic conditions in order to eliminate pain and swelling, increase functionality, and reduce spasms.
Our friendly and educated chiropractor will hold the cold laser and place it directly on the injured area for a few minutes. At this time, the non-thermal photons of lights will be emitted from the laser and pass through the skin layers. The light has the ability to penetrate two to five centimeters below the skin at 90 mw and 830 nm.
Sciatica
Sciatica refers to back pain caused by a problem with the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is a large nerve that runs from the lower back down the back of each leg. When this nerve is injured or pressure is put on it, it can cause pain in the lower back that radiates to the hip, buttocks and one or both legs. The best care for sciatic pain is to schedule regular chiropractic appointments. This allows us to better detect and correct any spinal dysfunction that may be a source of the sciatic pain.
Since there are many disorders that cause sciatica, we will determine what is the root cause of your sciatica by taking a thorough patient history during your physical and neurological exam.
Your Nerves Control Your Entire Body
Your nervous system controls everything in the body—all organs, cells and tissues. When restrictions are present, you can’t work at 100%. Though you may associate your nerves with pain, they do far more than tell you when something hurts. Chiropractic is a noninvasive, natural, drug-free approach to greater health.
The many conditions that benefit from what we do include

Tailoring Our Techniques to You
Dr. Sims is a full spine practitioner. The techniques he uses include Sacro Occipital Technique®, Thompson Drop and Activator®. The Activator instrument is effective for people with severe pain, reduced range of motion, severe spinal stenosis or serious arthritic conditions. Thompson Drop allows you to have a lower-force adjustment, which our patients appreciate.
Our Additional Therapies
You may have a therapy as a part of your care plan when appropriate. There are several modalities offered at our practice.
Electric muscle stimulation: Manage your pain, reduce muscle spasms and reeducate weakened muscles. Each session takes 10-15 minutes.
Ultrasound: Cut down on pain and inflammation with therapeutic ultrasound. This form of heat is applied via a handheld device for 8-15 minutes.
Cold laser therapy: Increase your range of motion, muscle strength and coordination with our cold laser. It’s also effective for pain and headache conditions.
Spinal decompression: Disc herniation, disc bulge and degeneration with compressed nerves all respond well to decompression. You’ll lie on a comfortable table and let it do the work for you, taking about 25 minutes in total.
Our Rehabilitation Room
We have an on-site rehabilitation suite. There, you can incorporate functional exercise to your care, enhancing your flexibility, strength and motor coordination. A wobble board helps those with lumbar spine or extremity-related conditions. There are pulleys for resistance that strengthen your shoulders, hips and knees.
A bicycle isn’t just an aerobic workout; it’ll loosen up hips, knees and backs. You’ll receive one-on-one direction with a member of our staff when you begin your rehabilitation program.
