How to Prepare
Please fill out your paperwork ahead of time. When you call to schedule, we’ll get your insurance information, check it for you and let you know what the cost is before you arrive.
You’ll need to bend and move for your exam, so if you can wear athletic wear to your appointment that would be ideal. You may be coming from work or unable to change, in which case we’ll give you a gown to wear.
Day One
You’ll take a brief office tour, then watch a video about chiropractic. Dr. Sims will sit down with you to talk about your health history. He’ll listen intently to your problem and any underlying issues you have. The next step will be an evaluation that includes the following:
- Neurological testing
- Orthopedic testing
- Range of motion testing
- Digital X-rays taken on-site (if needed)
This is a fact-finding mission. Afterward, Dr. Sims will need time to analyze your case and come up with a plan for you. If you are in acute pain, we may apply ice to the area or do electric muscle stimulation.
Day Two
At your next appointment, you’ll sit down with Dr. Sims for a report of findings. You’ll learn about chiropractic, your nervous system and how chiropractic can help your condition. You’ll participate in reading your X-rays and go over the treatment plan Dr. Sims has created to reach your goals.
We’ll explain the chiropractic adjustment to you and how it’ll feel. Along with your adjustment, you may receive a form of therapy such as massage, stretching, electrical muscle stimulation or cold laser therapy. This appointment takes 30-40 minutes.
Dr. Sims will give you a call that night to see how you’re doing. If you’re sore, you can apply ice to the area every hour for 15-20 minutes until you go to bed.
Regular Reevaluations
Your subsequent visits will consist of an adjustment and any therapy or exercises that your plan involves. Every 6-7 visits, you’ll be evaluated to see how you’re progressing.
